Last night I had the scariest dream that I've had in years...
It started off at a Beta event at my friend Erin's house. The activity proceeded as planned, when suddenly a man kicked open her door, flicked on the lights, and begun to wave a gun around, screaming at us to sit down and shut up. In the process of getting us to obey, he fired twice: once hitting my roommate Michelle in the leg, and another hitting me in the shoulder. I felt real pain shooting through my arm. We all settled and he leaned towards Amanda, a Beta, and grabbed her by the hair. He dragged her to the center of the room, made her kneel, and pointed the gun at her forehead. He then proceeded with a speech about Jews in America and how they should return from whence they came, all the while threatening to blow Amanda's head off (she is Jewish).
During this, Jill and I, who were positioned behind him, began to creep up on him in order to knock the gun out of his hands. I grabbed a stick, and while Jill made a noise to distract him, I attempted to sweep the gun out of his hands.
But I swept it towards me, and he shot me in the right breast, knocking me on my back and causing me to gasp and cry out in pain. The gun clattered to the ground, and the man ran.
Everyone rushed to me, Michelle put pressure on the wound, and they called an ambulance. At this time my vision was swimming, I was crying, and I begged my friends to drive me to the hospital, to make the ambulance hurry... I sobbed that I didn't want to be there, that I was so young...
Then with a gasp, i felt a sharp pain that made me draw up to a seated position... my body began to shake convulsively and my vision all but left me... I threw my head back as I shook and screamed, "Forgive me, Lord!"
And awoke sitting upright in my bed, in complete shock... and I have been on edge all day.
